Jewellery & Crystal Care

Jewellery Care

All our jewellery is handmade from Sterling Silver or Gold. With the correct care each piece will last a lifetime. Here are a few tips on how to look after your jewellery.

Avoid getting your jewellery excessively wet, while swimming or washing you should remove your jewellery. Also avoid wearing jewellery in harsh chemicals in hot tubs etc and when using household cleaning products. Chlorine will rapidly tarnish metals. Body oils will also react with the metal and accelerate tarnish. It is wise to remove jewellery when sunbathing or exercising.

You can clean your jewellery using warm soapy water and a toothbrush or using a polishing cloth. Jewellery should be removed when sleeping and stored in an airtight box.

Following this advice should keep your jewellery in tip top condition if you require any further advise or a professional clean please contact me at info@louisemuirhead.com

Crystal Care

All our jewellery is made using natural gemstones. Be aware different stones have different hardnesses affecting their durability and frequency of wear (see Moh’s Scale).

Crystals can be cleansed and energised using any of the Elements, Moonlight, Sunlight, smudging, placing in earth, a candle flame, running water, also sound vibration. I often use a combination depending on what feels right.

Your gemstone will arrive energised and infused with healing; you can further add your intentions to this.

Be mindful some stones such as Selenite do not benefit from exposure to water, similarly some such as Amethyst do not benefit from prolonged sunlight due to discolouration.
